The DJI Mavic Air 2 is a cutting-edge consumer drone produced by DJI. It has provided perfect features and functions that have attracted plenty of drone enthusiasts since it was released in 2020. According to the information offered by its official webpage “DJI Mavic Air 2” (n.d.), “Mavic Air 2 takes power and portability to the next level, offering advanced features in a compact form factor.” (DJI, n.d.) The Mavic Air 2 has a foldable structure which increases its portability and ease of transportation. The drone is professional in taking photos and videos. It consists of a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor to capture 48MP photos and a top-notch camera capable of capturing 4K video at up to 60 fps. These features also improve the performance and the image quality in low-light conditions. In addition, its own advanced anti-collision design, which is the Aircraft Obstacle Avoidance System ensures that users have a safe experience during their flight. Users can control the drone using the DJI Fly app on their smartphones or tablets, it contains a user-friendly interface for flight control and various camera settings. (DJI, 2021.) Nowadays, DJI Mavic Air 2 has become a versatile and popular drone which can deliver outstanding safety and user-friendly features for both beginners and experienced aerial enthusiasts. Most beginners benefit from its user-friendly design and safety features, while experienced enthusiasts also have good experiences with its high-quality camera and portability.

One of the significant enhanced characteristics is the safety of the drone. As mentioned in the related webpage, “Help Centre” (n.d.): “When using the aircraft, in addition to directly seeing the image from the aircraft's camera view, the aircraft has "sensing abilities" that we cannot see with the naked eye.” The Aircraft Obstacle Avoidance System of DJI Mavic Air 2 includes 2 types of Common Sensing Systems which are Binocular vision system and Infrared sensing system. “Binocular vision in depth is one highpoint of human visual perception” (Birch & O'Connor, 2017) “Binocular vision is similar to a type of vision in which a person has two eyes capable of facing the same direction to perceive a single three-dimensional image of its surroundings and to calculate the distance between objects.” (Help Centre, n.d.) And the other sensor, which is the infrared sensor, measures and detects infrared radiation in its surrounding environment. “The infrared sensor generally adopts the principle of triangular ranging measurement.” (Help Centre, n.d.) With the help of the Aircraft Obstacle Avoidance System, the drone can detect the obstacles at any height and change its direction of flight immediately to reduce the possibility of accidents.

An essential component of drone flight is the Inertial Guidance System, an electronic system that constantly tracks position, velocity, and acceleration using an integrated sensor array. (Kangunde, Jamisola & Theophilus, 2021.) Mavic Air 2 ensures the safety for users by perceiving its environment in three directions: forward, backward, and downward. (DJI, 2021.) Auxiliary light improves visibility, and the extra layer of security that obstacle avoidance provides is ideal for pushing the limits of what is possible. These safety features help beginners reduce the chances of breaking the drone and maintain the requirement of professional users to attempt higher-level difficult flights.

Another notable enhancement in the Mavic Air 2 is its user-friendly features. According to the review from Velasco, “The Mavic Air 2 includes a higher-quality camera capable of recording video at up to 4K/30p, capturing Raw JPEG files, and utilizing DJI's reliable OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology, eliminating the reliance on Wi-Fi for improved connectivity and performance.” (Velasco,2020.) This feature allows the user to record and store their image or video sources easily. The users can transfer their files in a safe and fast process. Additionally, the Mavic Air 2 offers HDR video capture, a convenient feature for users seeking optimal results without the need for post-processing their footage. (Velasco,2020.) All of these improvements make users easier to use.

In addition, The Mavic Air 2 offers both Beginner mode and Advanced Shooting Mode. (DJI, 2021.) In Beginner Mode, the drone's flight radius and speed are limited, enhancing safety for novice drone pilots. On the other hand, the Advanced Shooting Mode provides a range of advanced photography and video features, such as HDR, Hyperlapse, and D-Cinelike, delivering professional-grade creative capabilities.

Despite the advanced features and functions of it the Mavic Air 2 is not the most budget-friendly drone on the market. A Mavic Air 2 drone may cost about $1000 to $2000 which is expensive for some beginners or casual users who are unsure about their long-term commitment to drone flying such as students or travel enthusiasts.

In conclusion, the DJI Mavic Air 2 is a versatile drone that caters to both beginners and experienced users. The innovative technology in its design, outstanding imaging qualities for its camera and performance in its safety make Mavic Air 2 become a popular drone among different drone enthusiasts.
